Hotel video production: tips and techniques for capturing your property
Good hotel film is mostly good planning. These are the techniques we rely on to make a property look like itself — on schedule, on brand, and on the day.
Plan around the sun
Map the light before the shoot and schedule each space for its best hour. The middle of the day goes to interiors, detail and prep.
Make a shot list — then leave room
A shot list keeps the day honest and stops you packing up before you’ve covered a key space. But hold it loosely; the best moments are rarely on it.
Balance movement with stillness
Mix flowing gimbal and drone passes with still, composed frames. Contrast is what gives an edit rhythm.
Sort permits and drone in advance
Coastline, pools and architecture from above need permission and registration. Arrange it in pre-production so the day itself runs clean.
Shoot the texture
Close-ups of linen, water, wood and craft are the connective tissue of an edit — they carry the feeling of a place between the wide shots.
Leave room for the unscripted
A real moment between staff and guest is worth more than any planned set-up. Stay ready for it.
